Free file-or-pay check
Tax extension deadline. Paper moves. Payment stays.
Four taps. A filing request is not time to pay.
The form is short. The number is not.
The file-or-pay check can open. Where should we reach you?
How the free file-or-pay check works
- Name the paperIndividual request or entity application, and the return it belongs to.
- Leave the balance datedThe original day still wants the payment, interest included.
- Explain the estimateLast tied month, plus what you can already name, gaps written beside it.
Two clocks, one of them unmoved
The check separates the filing date from the payment date, and it asks whether a confirmation is in hand. This page does not file the form, and it does not invent the estimate.
If a balance cannot be paid, that limit is named before any planning talk. This practice does not speak for anyone before the agency and does not bargain what is owed. Wages, if the company has people, stay with the provider that already pays them. The form does not set payday up, and the pay run is not taken here.
Steven Palmieri is a Tax CFO and the Entrepreneur's CFO. The practice is not a CPA firm and does not sign audit or assurance reports.

Does the tax extension deadline move what I owe?
No. A timely request can move the paper. The balance that belonged on the original day stays there, and interest on the unpaid part begins then.
Will a letter arrive saying it was granted?
Usually not. For an ordinary individual request filed on time and filled in, more time to file is the expected result. A letter shows up when the request is denied. Keep the confirmation anyway.
Does my company share my April date?
Not because of the letters in its name. A partnership or an S corp is on the March calendar, six months toward September. A C corp is on the April calendar, six months toward October. A limited liability company follows the election already on file.
Who walks the estimate line with me?
Steven Palmieri, Tax CFO, on a video call. The line comes from a month the bank supports. The practice does not sign an assurance report, and it does not bargain a balance.
