A search for the company name does not name the form. The extension follows the tax election already on file. If you have never checked that election, the check is the first step, and the date comes second.

One owner, and no election on file, generally means the company is disregarded. The activity is on the owner's personal return, and the extension is Form 4868 by the April due date, out to the middle of October.
The extension form follows the election, and where no election is on file the owner count decides the return. A company with a single owner and no election files on that owner's Form 4868. More than one owner files the partnership return, Form 7004 by the middle of March, out to the middle of September. An S election puts the company on that same March and September calendar, and each owner still needs a personal extension. A C election puts it on the April to October calendar of a corporation.
Those four are the ordinary map. They are not a guess from the letters in the name. The IRS pages for the two forms are the source for the dates. The election letter is the source for which row is yours.
What we look at before we name a day
The acceptance letter for an S election, or the form that made the entity a corporation, is the document. If it cannot be found, the call starts by looking it up with you. We do not award you the March date because it sounds more serious, and we do not award you the April date because it sounds easier. The wrong date is the one that feels intuitive and is not the one on file.
Once the election is known, the estimate still has to come from a month that ties. A correct form with a made up number is only half finished. The books that feed the estimate are closed by the same practice that will plan the year in October, if that is the help you want.
A name is not an election
Owners arrive certain they are an S corp because someone said so at formation, and the letter was never filed or was filed and lost. The bank account title will not settle it. The organizer's memory will not settle it. The document will. Until it does, we will not put a date in your mouth.
